Identify your top three (3) issues that you wish to address during your tenure in office and rank them in order of priority.
Responsible Growth to meet Carmel's strategic goals
Conservative and disciplined fiscal policy to maintain low taxes.
Making excellent public safety a priority.
What do you believe is the role of the City Council in our community?
(1) Act as a responsible steward over tax payers' dollars to provide for excellent public safety and to maintain infrastructure and parks. (2) Be a voice to individual citizens and the community at large. (3) Act as a liaison between citizens and city departments where the citizen has a need or request for assistance that the city can provide.
What experiences and qualities do you think makes you the best candidate for this position?
(1) I not only grew up in Carmel, but I am a product of the Carmel school system. I continue to be proud of the City of Carmel, want to be a voice for the residents of my community and help keep Carmel the best city in the United States to work, raise a family and retire. (2) As an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church, I understand the important role churches and civic organizations play in our community. (3) Throughout my career in the private sector, I understand the importance of government either facilitating business growth or, in the alternative, not acting as a barrier to business growth. (4) As a long-time volunteer and as the Vice-Chairman of HCR, I have a vested interest in supporting responsible leadership on the local, state and federal level for the good of our community.
How will you work with OneZone Chamber to ensure a thriving business community?
I consider OneZone Chamber to be a great resource for the Carmel City Council as we craft our short, middle and long-term strategic goals, legislative initiatives and fiscal policy and their impact on the city, our library and schools, business climate as well as on Fishers and Hamilton County. As Carmel seeks to retain and attract businesses and highly skilled residents for the workforce, it is critical that we consider a broader strategy that OneZone Chamber staff and its membership work very hard to research and formulate.
