Identify your top three (3) issues that you wish to address during your tenure in office and rank them in order of priority.
My priorities are to continue to advance the quality of life for all citizens of Fishers by continuing to:
1. Support long-term sustainable economic growth and infrastructure. The City of Fishers continues to be recognized as one of the best cities to live in the United States.
2. Provide the highest standards of municipal services and public safety. Fishers is one of the safest cities in the United States.
3. Maintain fiscal responsibility with having one of the lowest tax rates and holding the Standards & Poor's AAA bond rating. It is the highest possible rating for a municipality & received by fewer than 2% of local governments in the United States.
What do you believe is the role of the City Council in our community?
The role of the City Council is to represent the residents of the city in its duties as a legislative branch of government and policy-making body. The Council is responsible for overseeing the City's fiscal status, annual budget, and passes ordinances and resolutions. It is also important to engage the community.
What experiences and qualities do you think makes you the best candidate for this position?
I have eight years of experience serving as a Fishers City Councilor At-Large. I am proud of what has been accomplished in Fishers since becoming a city.
As a Fishers City Councilor At-Large, I have the ability to devote full-time to the position. It provides me the opportunity to also work on various city-wide initiatives. I currently serve as Co-Chair of the Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability, focusing on disability inclusion, accessibility, and employment/social opportunities. I also serve on the Fishers Arts and Culture Commission, which is expanding art and culture opportunities for all citizens.
I am also proud that during my tenure on the Fishers City Council, the City of Fishers has been recognized as one of the best and safest cities to live. It is also one of the few cities with a Standard and Poor's AAA bond rating in the country. Fishers first received this designation in 2015, after I was elected on the Fishers City Council.
How will you work with OneZone Chamber to ensure a thriving business community?
I will continue to work in partnership with the OneZone Chamber to ensure a thriving business community by supporting public policy that will provide more sustainable economic development and employment opportunities, which has contributed to Fishers' growing success.
As a current Fishers City Councilor At-Large, I have been a supportive partner with the OneZone Chamber and its members. I have also been working alongside Jack Russell, President/CEO of OneZone, in providing information on programs/opportunities available to the business community to assist in hiring amazing candidates with disabilities.
