Identify your top three (3) issues that you wish to address during your tenure in office and rank them in order of priority.
Economic growth: Business attraction as well as retail, dining, and entertainment commerce.
Investments in community lifestyle assets such as parks, trails, the arts and festivals.
Continued housing diversification across size, style, price ranges and leasing options.
What do you believe is the role of the City Council in our community?
First and foremost it is to protect the various interests of the citizens of Carmel. Our role is to be responsible stewards of resources in the City budget, deliver services to the City in the area of police and fire protection, establish tax rates, make wise decisions on land use and to be both responsible and transparent regarding borrowing and spending. Echoing my earlier comments, bringing all of that together, my goal is to contribute to Carmel continuing to be an attractor and creator of business of all types, providing a lifestyle day and night for those businesses’ employees and all citizens of Carmel while continuing to the uplift of our greater Central Indiana Region, as we all win together.
What experiences and qualities do you think makes you the best candidate for this position?
I have a passion for all of the above to come to fruition, much of which is already in place. Measuring my passion based on my past, I would point to my decision to relocate my family to Carmel back in 2009 seeing something special in what was being developed here.
I have served the real estate industry for 20 years, a career that my mom enjoyed stretching back to the early 1980s. In all of that time, I have seen, and can say, that great real estate professionals and great communities go hand in hand. In fact, one of CENTURY 21 Scheetz’ (headquartered in Carmel) Core Values is to “Love and Serve our Communities.”
In my time in real estate Leadership, I have been responsible for results in recruiting, retention, professional development of both myself and others, as well as the growth of revenue and profit of our organization. The team that I lead now is currently a top 10 in the US, responsible for roughly $500,000,000 in Sales Volume and more than $10,000,000 in Gross Revenue annually. Every single real estate transaction is a driver of approximately $75,000 in local economic impact (NAR).
Additionally, as a contributor to strategic decisions by committee, similar to City Council, I educate myself on all topics prior to a decision, seek input from many people for diverse perspectives and look at all options to achieve the best outcome. On a personal note, I have 3 children in multiple levels of Carmel Clay Schools, Dad’s Club and more, with a vested in interest in our community remaining strong in so many areas.
