What do you believe is the role of the City Council in our community?
I feel that the City Council should be directly responsible to the citizens of Carmel as their voice in the city. Members should be accessible and respond to the needs of residents, proactively ensure that information is flowing from government to the citizens, and should serve as their voice in decisions that come before the council.
What experiences and qualities do you think makes you the best candidate for this position?
I am focused on finding solutions for residents, through research, input, and collaboration. I have been honored to serve in many leadership roles in the city including the 1994 and 2004 President of OneZone, the St. Vincent - Carmel Hospital Board, Carmel Christkindlmarkt board, Carmel Fest board, Rotary Club of Carmel, Good Day Carmel founder, and directing the Carmel Fireworks show each Fourth of July. I also previously served as the Carmel City Council President.
How will you work with OneZone Chamber to ensure a thriving business community?
Collaboration is the center of every productive community initiative. By working together strategically regarding ideas and projects, Carmel will continue to be the best place to live in America. I believe in discussing city challenges with the business community and taking in feedback from residents. My goal is to always listen first, then find a solution that encompasses compromise and solutions. By promoting this type of collaboration, Carmel can foster an engaged community.
